Paul's Personal Information
I live on Lake Vermilion with my chocolate Labrador, Mookie.
I have 30 years fishing
experience on Lake Vermilion. I started fishing
Vermilion when my father
purchased
a family cabin on Pike Bay in 1977. I grew up fishing walleyes, small mouth bass,
and
northerns year round. My passion for muskies began when I caught my
first muskie in the mid 1990's. Since that day I have spent literally thousands
of hours chasing esox masquinongy. Muskie preferences change
constantly and I strive to discern the working pattern and bait rather than staying in the same old rut.
I am one of a new breed of muskie guides that is innovative, energetic and willing
to put in the time it takes to ensure my client's success.

I fish muskies all day and into the night.
Night fishing is very effective. Nothing compares with hooking into a true giant under the ebony cloak of darkness. I also love fall fishing.
Fall is when the big girls come out to play. I troll and cast in the fall until the ice locks the lake up for another hard-water season.

Another great day on the ice!

Lake Vermilion is world famous as a walleye fishery. As a walleye guide 1 am proficient at vertical jigging, lindy rigging, cranking,
and slip bobbering. I've guided clients to some excellent days and personal best
walleyes. (Check out some of my testimonials.) During the hard water season, I'm chasing lake trout
on area lakes both inside out outside of the Boundary Waters as well as lakes in northwest Ontario.

My mission as your guide is to not only put you on fish, but to show you prime locations
based on seasonal preferences, and to show you baits that work and how to use them
correctly. I'm also there to answer any questions you may have, from fishing information,
to the history of the lake and the area, to how I think the Vikings are going to do
this year =;<)
The knowledge you gain in a day of fishing with me will allow you to become a better fisherman.
